While there are no formal prerequisites to appear for the ServiceNow CSA (Certified System Administrator) certification.

In addition, having a foundational understanding of ServiceNow Administration Fundamentals—including platform navigation, core modules, and service functionalities—is highly beneficial.

ServiceNow also outlines some recommended experience that can help you succeed in the CSA exam:

Practical exposure to database systems and IT system management
Hands-on experience with administrative access or system admin roles in ServiceNow
Familiarity with IT Service Management (ITSM) processes like incident, problem, and change management workflows
At least 3 to 6 months of working experience with a ServiceNow instance (usage or maintenance)
Basic understanding of industry-standard terminology, acronyms, and IT-related initialisms
